Janet Best is a dual trained Registered Nurse and Midwife from Northern Ireland. She has been a nurse for 8 years, working the majority of her career on orthopaedic and medical/surgical wards. She has worked as a midwife for four years, with experience in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal settings, caring for both low risk women, as well as those with more complex needs. She is CPR/AED certified and holds a level 2 counselling qualification. Currently, she is completing a Masters in Advanced Professional Practice focusing on perinatal mental health.  She has a passion for caring for women in the perinatal period and believes all women have the right to the highest possible standard of respectful maternity care. In the past, she has been involved in non-profit volunteer trips with Waakisa Ministries in Uganda where she provided education, supplies and direct care to women in the community during all stages of labour. Within PULSE International, Janet serves has  maternity specialist and lead for projects involving maternal care.
